SAILING THE SEA OF CORTEZ WITH A    MACGREGOR 26 X
The MacGregor 26 Power sailor is the most practical boat
for the Gulf of California.
Sailing with about 6 Knots or using the 50 hp outboard for
18 Knots.
The cockpit is very spacious and is even comfortable to sleep outside and there is also bimini top for shade
and for the summer months a big sun-sail.
There is a dinette for 4 which also converts into a comfortable bed.
But is has to be very small 4. Actually, 3 sailors are plenty, 4 are to
much, even so the boat sleeps 6.
The graphic clearly shows also a big queen size
aft berth and a double V-berth to sleep.
Plenty of space at the aft berth. The picture makes
it looks bigger. It is king size, but not much room
to the top.
The V-Berth holds also the 12 V Norcold fridge, so it is
comfortable to sleep, but only for one.
There is  STANDING  HEADROOM  throughout the boat !!  No more bending over and bumping the head.
The boat has also a small galley (kitchen) with sink and one burner stove.
Yes, there is a real head (flush toilette) and a little sink.
Home port is La Paz, the capitol of Baja California Sur, the "Pearl of the Sea of Cortez".
If you have an ASA certificate or even owe a MacGregor, we will give you the boat for
as long as you want.
Even so the layout is for 4 sailors, it will be to cramped. Three are plenty and only for a day - sail
it can be 4, or two adults and two kids is fine.
If you really know how to handle a boat, this will be alright.
In Mexico you don't need a license, but we like to know more about you before we let you go out
with the boat.
If you prefer a
captain, we have several great ones who will show you all the "secret" places.
We don't charge for using the boat, but we ask you to give a good donation direct to our charities we
are supporting.
The Caritas, the Red Cross, the Orphanage, the Old Folks Home, EMAS and a few more needy
organizations.

                                                            WE ARE TICKED OFF!!!!
We thought that people have a little decency and give a good donation to our charities.
We really don't ask for much, but at least it should be in relation of what we offer.
The MOORINGS company charges more than 4,300.00  Dollar for their smallest Moorings "Club"
sailboat for a week.
How dare people donating $ 50 and $ 100 Dollar to the charities for a week to 10 days sailing.
We did not wanted to do it, but there is no other solution.
The boat will be chartered now for a donation of $ 900 Dollar / week that is to be given direct to the
charity of your choice and if you want to donate more, this would be wonderful.
IT SOUNDS LIKE A JOKE, BUT IT IS THE VERY SAD TRUTH!!
Mr. Mike Sherrell said that he is
an experienced sailor when he
wanted to charter the boat.
The "Experienced Sailor" gave me a call the first day
to tell me that the motor did not started.
It turned out that he left the dock and missed the
clearly marked channel. He took a fishing trap marker
for a channel buoy and run aground.
Of course the motor was in gear and would not start.
After telling him that he had to get it out of gear, he
limped back to the marina with a broken prop.
Only later it turned out that he wanted to sail the boat off. He lowered the centerboard and the
rudders to sail. Sure, this is usually done when you are hard aground,
OR?
The result can be seen here at the pictures.
He promised to pay the damage when he was home since he did not had so much money
with him.
The insurance refused to pay for the damage since it was gross negligence.
WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR HIS PAYMENT!!
Contacting him, he said it was OUR fault since we let him use the boat after breaking the prop.
PLEASE, DROP HIM A NOTE, TELL HIM WHAT YOU THINK
ABOUT HIS SAILING ABILITY AND THAT HE SHOULD MAKE
GOOD ON HIS DAMAGE FOR OVER $ 1,500 DOLLAR.
SINCE ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO THE CHARITIES HERE,
HE DAMAGED NOT ONLY US, IT IS LESS FOR THE NEEDY
ORGANIZATIONS TOO.
